In 2008, the two teams scheduled each other on the Wednesday prior to the game. Both teams had games canceled following the landing of Hurricane Ike on the coast. Three days following Longview's 52-22 victory over the Eagles, the Lobos found out about an ineligible player that played one play during the game and turned themselves into the district committee. The Lobos were forced to forfeit the match and Evangel was awarded a 2-0 win.
