Longview vs Tyler - at Lobo Stadium - November 4th, 1949 - via Dallas Morning News
Longview nips Tyler, 18 to 6 The Longview Lobos, paced by all-state candidate fullback Sonny Jones, racked up an 18-to-6 triumph over the Tyler Lions before 2,000 fans at Lobo Stadium here Friday night to retain a mathematical chance of copping the District 9-AA grid crown. The underdog Rose City team threw a scare into the Lobos for three and a half quarters before weakening in the last five minutes and giving up two touchdowns on plays which covered 54 and 43 yards. Tyler scored first midway through the initial quarter when Ed Hennig's brilliant quarterback, flipped a 24-yard touchdown pass to Rex Templeton. Hennig's try for the point failed. Linney passed to Ronnie Lemmons for 24 yard and a tie-breaking touchdown with less than five minutes remaining.

Longview vs Ennis - at Lobo Stadium - November 18, 1949 - via Dallas Morning News
Jones romps for Longview Sonny Jones, candidate for all-state honors, accounted for 32 points as his Longview Lobos rolled to a 45-to-13 victory over the Ennis Lions in a nonconference game here Friday night. Jones scored on runs of 42, 1, 6 and 9 yards, and on an 18-yard pass from Jerry Matthews. He kicked two extra points. Longview scored the first time it got possession of the ball on a 74-yard pass play from John Linney to Jim Sanford. The same combination clicked for the other Lobo score. Ken Vavra passed to Bob McClendon from the Lobos 11 for the first Ennis score, and Mike Kelly plunged 3 yards for the other Lion tally

Lobos bow to Bears The Gladewater Bears edged the Longview Lobos, 34 to 27, Thursday afternoon in Gladewater Stadium in the last District 9-AA game for both teams. Jerry Stewart sparked the Bears to their lone conference win oft he season with four touchdowns. Stanley Bowlin, riding the sick list, hobbled ontot he field to boot four conversions.
