Lobos clip Samuell by 26-13 Scoring in every quarter, Longview defeated W.W. Samuell of Dallas, 26-13, here in the season opener for both here Friday night. Samuell packed both its touchdown into a big second quarter to hold a 13-13 halftime deadlock, but the Lobos kept on in the final periods. Quarterback Bill Bolger was the big gun in the first two Longview touchdowns. On the sixth play of the game, he uncorked a 33-yard pass to end David Duncan for a score which capped a 68-yard drive, and Bob Abney kicked the extra point. Bolger scored the second touchdown, in the second, on a sneak from the 1 after Jim Rogers fumbled a punt. Found this gem today, Longview and Galena Park both were scheduled to meet other opponents (Longview against Arlington Heights and Galena Park was set to play Galveston). Both teams had their opponents cancel on them because of the flu. On the Thursday before, the two teams met and decided to play at Lobo Stadium the next day.

Also found out, the Longview vs Lufkin game was set to be played down in Lufkin. But bad weather caused the game to be canceled. Texarkana had already clinched the district and there was no reason to make up the game the next day.
