Longview vs Wichita Falls - in Wichita Falls - October 13th, 1961 - via Associated Press
#1 Wichita Falls wins, 27-6 Wichita Falls, the no. 1 rated team in the state, found Longview a stubborn customer Friday night but Larry Shields led the Coyotes to a 27-6 victory although out gained by the visitors. Shields' punt into the end zone was fumbled by Jerry Aynesworth and Robert Walker recovered for the first Wichita Falls touchdown. Then the Coyotes put on a 60-yard drive for another with Shields running the last 10. Ronnie Shields converted after each touchdown. Longview scored on a 75-yard drive, with Robert Meyers going the last 10. Larry Shields then ran 41 yards to a touchdown and iced the game for the Coyotes. In the fourth period, Mike Kelly went three yards to a touchdown after Jim Hull had intercepted a Longview pass and ran back 31 yard. Longview rolled up 249 yards rushing and passing to 238 for Wichita Falls.
